PATIENT RESOURCES

Urology is the surgical specialty that focuses on the urinary tracts of males & females, & on the reproductive system of males. Medical professionals specializing in the field of urology are called urologists or urosurgeons.
The organs covered by urology include the kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, urethra, & the male reproductive organs (testes, epididymis, vas deferens, seminal vesicles, prostate & penis).

We believe in empowerment of the patient. This means that the patient should be given all the information about his disease and the various options of treatment available to him. The doctor is only a facilitator in this decision making process.

Kidney Failure - What is It ?

Two options are available for people who are not satisfied or cannot take oral medicines / injections. They are  Vacuum pump devices and Penile implants.

Premature Ejaculation

Many men will climax sooner than they or their partners would like. This prevents full enjoyment of sexual activity. This is called premature ejaculation. This needs to be treated if it is occurring frequently. This is because it can stress in relationship.

Benign Prostate Hyperplasia

With age the prostate starts increasing in size. This is not cancer of prostate although the two can occur together. This is called as BPH. As the prostate enlarges, it can squeeze down on the urethra. This can cause men to have trouble passing urine.

Stricture Urethra

A urethral stricture is a narrowing in the lumen of the urethra due to scar in or around the urethra. This leads to obstruction in the flow of urine. Injury & infection (including Sexually transmitted diseases) account for most causes of urethral stricture.

Prostate Cancer

Till now, the exact cause of prostate cancer has not been found. Prostate cancer occurs when abnormal cells, fueled by male hormones such as testosterone, grow uncontrollably to form tumors.
